Robin Roberts has been the face of strength over the last couple of years. Not only has the award-winning anchor of “Good Morning America” faced health issues, she demonstrated bravery as she revealed her sexuality. But her personal issues didn’t get in the way of her commitment to journalism and her dedication is being recognized. On Wednesday, Arizona State University announced Roberts as the 2014 recipient of the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.

In a demonstration of strength and pride, a Washington, D.C. principal used his school’s second annual Pride Day event to come out to his students as gay on Wednesday. The special announcement was made during the school’s lunch hour at an event that drew protest threats from Westboro Baptist Church.

Cruz, who came out as gay last October, would become the first openly gay boxer to win a title if he defeats Salido.
